Literature Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies : William golding

the rules are the only things we got Gist main point idea
what are the grown ups going to say?

Ralph- leadership \ -lead by respect
---- pride
Jack- jealousy/envy / -lead by fear
Piggy- reason --------> "Homesick"(longed for aunt)
Simon- religion (loner, did what he believed in, left out)
Roger- instigator (someone who does thig first) (starts what Jack made him do)

animal instinct VS. Governance (to rule)
percival--> phone --> Adapt

chapter dicussion(Gist):
1. "The Sound of the Shell" - the counch represented/ signified
rules/ laws/ structure in the group!
2."Fire on the Mountain"- Their hope for survival was dependent
(Everything was a big adventure) on their responsibility!

3. "Huts on the Beach"- The need for shelter from danger.
(rules are falling apart.)

4. "Painted Faces and Long Hair"- (Become wild and irresponsible
for the duty they need to fulfill) Trading of responsibility for more
adventure and freedom

5. "Beast from Water"- (Facing with unknown fear) -- denial of fear + idea of beast
intro of the beast/threat inside their minds or imagination

6. "Beast from Air"- (Encounter a closer fear and acting childish)
(Fear becomes concrete and the kids admit their fear) Encounter the beast/threat
in the form of the dead pilot.

7. "Shadows & Tall Trees"- (Fear fogged the boys mind)

8. "Gift for the Darkness"- (When uncertainty reach it;s height and things start to
fell apart) (try to set beast on their side)

9. "A View to a Death"- The boys lose their self-conciousness and killed Simon

savages kill Simon because they are afraid

10. "The Shell and the Glasses"- The boys lose control and steal knowledge
treasure things
Jack start needing the glass so he just realize he needed it

11."Castle Rock"- Emotions played a big part and took over self-control

piggy made insignificant by Jack
A LOT OF CIVIL. DETERIORATED

12."Cry of the Hunters"- Reality came in the form of grown ups and made them
realize their loss of innocence
cried- become civilized again
ashamed of what happened

Raising a family (Ralph - dad/ Piggy - mom)
Simon hallucinetion - phrophets talking to gods
The lord of the Flies = The sow's head = The leader and the kids
Jack didn't kill the pig at first because he had no audience
