Three states of Matter
Solid, Liquid, Gas
Solid: the particles of solids are very close together. Particale move fast but not fast enough to break away from each other
Solid have a definite shape and volume
Liquid: particles are more spread out than solid but the particles can't fully break away from one another
Liquid have a definite volume but not a definite shape (can change shape but the amount still the same)
Gas: molecules (particles) move so fast that they have no bond with another particle and are free to move wherever
Gas have no definte shape or volume (can change shape and the amount can change)
2 Types of Solid
1. Amorphous Solids - Not an arranged 3d shape, you can't really define the shape
2. Crystalline Solids - Has an arranged shape Example: Diamond and crystal
Liquids
Surface Tension - at the surface of water the molecules get closer and act more like a solid so small insects can walk on water
Viscosity- how well liquid flow (liquid resistance to flow)
High viscosity- slow flow
Low viscosity- fast flow
